A seminar was held in our city under the leadership of Igor Yurievich Shmygin, shihan, 7th dan, president of the Aikido Aikikai Association of Ukraine.

Journey to the Dream Factory 2025
Exciting competitions in Cossack hand-to-hand combat "SPAS" took place, which brought together participants of different ages and levels of training. The atmosphere of the event was truly Cossack: fighting spirit, team support and a sincere desire for victory were felt in every duel.
The participants demonstrated high technique, endurance, and respect for each other — the main principles of “SPAS.” Each outing on the tatami turned into a small battle of characters, where not only the physically stronger won, but also the one with a strong Cossack spirit.
The competition was dynamic and emotional. The spectators actively supported the athletes, and the judges noted the high level of preparation and organization. For many participants, these matches were an important step in the development and improvement of their own skills.
This tournament once again proved that Cossack hand-to-hand combat "SPAS" is not just a sport, but a way of cultivating strength, honor, and indomitability.
Today, the Zhytomyr Children's Aikido Federation celebrates its 10th anniversary since its founding. Ten years is not just a date, it is a whole story filled with inspiration, work, achievements and victories. During this time, the federation has become a center for the development of not only the martial art of Aikido, but also spiritual strength, respect, harmony and education of the younger generation.
Last weekend, from September 19 to 21, 2025, the open Ukrainian hand-to-hand combat championship "Spas" was held in the capital, Kyiv.
More than 145 participants from different regions and in different sections took part. The fight for the first places was very intense, as everyone wanted to become winners - only the best wore medals.
The Zhytomyr team among 19+ won first place in the "Pew to Pew" section and took the cup to the Zhytomyr region. Many thanks to all participants for their perseverance, strength of spirit and team unity. You are an example of true Cossack character!

In June, the Ukrainian Hand-to-Hand Championship "Spas" was held in our capital. In Ukrainian traditions, strength and spirit. More than 450 participants from 13 regions and Kyiv took part in the Championship. Athletes demonstrated their skills and abilities in various types of fighting. We congratulate all athletes and their coaches on their participation in the championship.
Last Sunday, the Zhytomyr region championship in Ukrainian hand-to-hand combat "Spas" was held in the Kotygoroshko section, based on the Dynamo sports complex. Athletes of different age categories from the city, district and region participated in the championship. Congratulations to the winners!
An International Aikido Seminar was held in the city of Uzhgorod. With the participation of Sensei Stefan Benedetti 7th dan Aikido Aikikai and Miguel Salvador 6th dan Aikido Aikikai and Renshi RSR Iai-jutsu, Shidoin. The basic principles of Aikido and their application in practice were discussed.
The seminar was held in a warm friendly atmosphere.

On October 5, 2024, a useful and interesting charity seminar "Application of Aikido in everyday life" was attended in our capital, at which UAH 37,000 was collected for the purchase of necessary devices and materials for sapper units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Recently in the village A three-day Cossack camp for children of different age categories was held in Zarichany The recreation program included a variety of outdoor activities such as archery, quad biking, sports games, pistol shooting, campfire evenings and much more. The children liked everything, everyone got incredible impressions, positive emotions, and a charge of energy. And a special unforgettable moment for the children was the farewell party with dancing and a bombastic, delicious cake. Where the children plunged into the Cossack atmosphere of the camp with great pleasure.
How can girls be attracted to Aikido?
Do you think it makes sense to create separate groups where only girls will train?
- It seems to me that girls can be attracted to aikido as well as everyone else by publishing and distributing relevant thematic materials, which will allow them to see what results can be achieved, how interesting the training is, various activities (seminars, festivals, camps, etc.).
Then and at the seminars, a person will feel more confident, where the work is going with other organizations involved.
We have always recommended our individual students or students in small groups to come at least once a week to joint groups and work with other people. And we say to all students: "Attend seminars, progress is impossible without this."
Every year, our athletes, together with their friends and parents, go to rest in the picturesque Carpathians in the summer And this time they visited Bukovel, where received a lot of incredible impressions and unforgettable emotions
Recently, there was an exam of athletes who successfully changed the colors of their belts. All athletes showed a high result.

Every year, at the end of May, our federation traditionally holds a children's festival "Young Samurai" On the first day of the festival, a meaningful seminar was held, where aikidokas consolidated their practical skills, and the guest of the seminar was the capital coach Ruslan Olegovich with his students, who conducted a master class on aikido techniques. On the second day of the festival, athletes demonstrated impressive techniques of aikido, hand-to-hand combat and work with weapons to their relatives and guests of the city.

"We are STRONG when we are TOGETHER!" with this motto, the Charitable Foundation "We Help Ukraine" honored volunteers from Zhytomyr.
Volunteers of the Foundation are not only adult citizens, but also children, our small, but already adult and conscious citizens who, with their drawings, charge our defenders with positive emotions.
From the first days of the foundation, they actively join and help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is help with the manufacture of dugout stoves, dugout candles, the purchase of mine detectors, tasty "energy" kits, warm socks, food products, turnstiles, hygiene products...
In 2023, Pokotylo Roman, head of the Zhytomyr Children's Aikido Federation, was awarded the Badge of Honor of the Foundation for active volunteering

Recently, the Zhytomyr Children's Aikido Federation visited the wonderful city of Dubno. In which she held an aikido master class for Sunday school children. Everyone was very satisfied, children from Sunday school showed their best results in physical training.
After the master class, the children shared their impressions, emotions, everyone liked everything, they received a cheerful charge of energy and a positive mood. Most of them were happy to say that they will definitely do sports.
Because sport is the key to health!
