Rules in the Dojo

The first step in learning Aikido is to learn and follow the rules of etiquette. This will help us feel more confident and safer.

Remember that following the rules of conduct is crucial to your safety and contributes to tangible progress in the successful study of Aikido. Code of conduct avoids traumatic situations in training and improves mutual understanding between students.

The place of training is called Dojo. This is a specially equipped hall for Aikido classes. The training takes place on a soft surface - Tatami. The central part of the dojo is called Semen or Kamiza, which houses a portrait of the founder of Aikido. At the beginning and at the end of training in this direction is a ceremonial bow - Ray as an expression of respect for the teacher.

10-15 minutes before the start of classes you need to come to the hall, in order to have time to change clothes. After changing, calmly wait for the start of the lesson and if you need help to prepare the room.

During training, we should all treat the instructor and our peers with respect. When we enter and leave the Dojo, as a sign of respect for those present and the place where we train, we bow.

At the entrance to the tatami, the shoes are removed and a bow is made towards Semyon. If you are late before the start of classes, wait for the end of the greeting ritual or the instructor's explanation, and only then can you go to the tatami after performing the greeting.         Try not to make a lot of noise, thereby distracting others from the lessons. If you are late for a warm-up, you need to warm up yourself to avoid injury.

WHY SHOULD AVOID THE DOJO?

1.Talk loudly.

2. Push your peers and insult them.

3. Run "on the walls and ceilings."

4. Argue.

5. Talk on a mobile phone (during classes, the sound signal of the mobile phone should be turned off, both for spectators and those involved)

A dojo is a place where we discipline and improve ourselves to become better.
