Kissomaru Ueshiba

Kissomaru Ueshiba is the international leader of Aikido, the son of Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba - the 2nd still Aikido.

Kissomaru Sensei began serious Aikido training in 1937.

Since 1942, as a university student, after his father moved to Iwama, Kisemaru has been running the Kobukan dojo (old name dojo). During World War II, Kissomaru Sensei repeatedly saved the dojo from fire through incendiary bombs.

In 1947, Kissomaru became CEO of Hombu Dojo. Since 1948 he has been actively managing the Hombu dojo.

In 1957, Kissomaru published his first book on aikido, which was very popular and republished many times. He is the author of more than twenty publications on art, some of these books have been translated into various languages.

Ueshiba Kissomaru gradually changed the technical curriculum of Aikido Aikikai, reducing the number of Aikido techniques practiced and creating a standardized specification.

His smooth style of Aikido technique, in which special emphasis was placed on the "ki no nagare" (ki no nagare), has in fact become the standard in many Aikido Aikikai clubs around the world.

The position of Aikido has significantly strengthened with the creation of the International Aikido Federation (IAF). Kissomaru became the first president of this federation.

To 1998, Kissomaru's age no longer allowed him to practice aikido, and he appointed his son as chief (instead of himself).
