Moriteru Ueshiba
Ueshiba Moriteru is a master of aikido. Moriteru Ueshiba was born in Tokyo and received the title of head of the Federation (道 主 to: Xu) on January 4, 1999 after the death of his father, Kissomaru Ueshiba. He is the grandson of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. He studied at Meiji Gakuin University at the Faculty of Economics.
In 1986, Moriteru took over as dojo, or head of the Hombu Dojo. Thirteen years later, he became chairman of the Aikido Federation. Moriteru is the author of Progressive Aikido and co-author of Best Aikido: The Fundamentals, co-written with his father, as well as the second book in the series, The Aikido Master Course: Best Aikido 2.
He currently teaches aikido at the Hombu Dojo, at aikido clubs in the Japanese Parliament, Tohoku University, KDD, NHK and others, at the Japan Self-Defense Forces Academy, and conducts seminars in many countries around the world. Moriter is expected to inherit the title from his son Mitsuter Ueshibe.
